We are excited to announce the opening of our latest exhibit, “Permutations” by Christine Reed. The show features a variety of work in print medium, with selected paintings on wood block and canvas. Christine studied art at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and holds a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley. She writes:
Through monotype prints and paintings, I recall experiential memories of landscape. Across the series, the interplay of field and frame, form and void, intention and ambiguity, structure and disarray is my focus. Visual juxtaposition becomes a mechanism to hold attention and create time for a sustained impression of visual space within the field of the work. Often an ordering framework – a grid or pattern – is interrupted, blurred, dissolved or refracted through the process of working. The trace of order in the underlying framework, still visible within the finished work, teases the mind’s tendency to search for perceptible structure – for repetition or rhythm – in the random array. By engaging the mind in perceptual play and disarming the intellectual focus of the viewer, my work aims to evoke the visceral response of that which initially inspired the work – the experience of space and light.
Please join us Thursday, September 22, for an opening reception and party. The event will be held from 5:30 – 8pm at One Union Street, San Francisco, CA, 94111.

Marking Time showcases the works of three San Francisco artists: Bernadette Jiyong Frank, Angela Willetts and Jeong Im Yi. Their works address experiences of one of the fundamental structures of the universe – Time. “Marking Time”, here, references the artists’ explorations of various dimensions of the measurement and recording of Time, including: sequences of events and the intervals between them; recording the motions of change; the continuum in which events occur in succession from the past to the present and on to the future; traces of the past found in the present; and the spatial reference frame which triggers one’s perception of time and space. Each artist expresses a motion of Time in her brush strokes, repetitive process and colors.

We are pleased to announce the opening of our latest exhibition, ‘Orange Ocean’ featuring new works by Cathy Ellis. The solo show, which features large-scale oil paintings and drawings on wood panel and paper, displays a body of work that is both beautiful and perplexing. There is skill in the technique and depth to the subject matter, both of which lend themselves to a unique viewing experience.
Often my work begins with a landscape or architectural structure that interests me. This area then becomes a stage where I introduce a loose narrative based on common human experiences, both real and imagined. I build a world that is part romanticism and part social critique. Idealism and disaster coexist with more everyday concerns like eating, sleeping, work and recreation.
The exhibition will run from October 3rd – January 5th. A private artist talk and viewing will be held in December. For more info please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Liquid SPACES Gallery is open by appointment Monday – Friday from 9am – 6pm. For appointment please call 415-677-7300 or email email@example.com. 1 Union Street, San Francisco, CA 94111.

Liquid SPACES/Pathways to Children Fundraising Fashion Show
October 22nd, 2009 5:30-9:30pm
Arkitektura In Situ 560 9th St. San Francisco, CA 94103
This is a fundraising fashion show to be held on Thursday, October 22nd from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Arkitektura showroom in SOMA. This fashion show is sponsored by Liquid SPACES, a non-profit organization that supports emerging artists. Liquid SPACES is collaborating with Pathways to Children’s Adopt-A-School in Serampore, India (suburb of Calcutta) that gives children living in extreme poverty, the opportunity to get an education. Pathways to Children is currently funding the school’s operation budget and is in process of sending a school administrator from the United States there to develop curriculums and volunteer programs. The school is also doing a pilot program, bringing 6 to 8 children (ages 3-12) from the Red Light District, giving them housing (along with a counselor) and gradually integrating them with the slum children.
We are fundraising to support Liquid SPACES’ Artist trip to establish an art program for the school which would help these poverty stricken and troubled children heal. This would provide them an outlet to release their emotions and integrate themselves into society.
